How it works

How to make a video lesson from YouTube clips

    Clip the moments

    Paste each YouTube link and clip the parts you want students to see. Add notes with the questions you’ll ask.

    Build a lesson

    Sign in with Google, open Lessons, and add your clips in order with text, Google Slides or a full video between them.

    Present or share

    Present full screen in class, share the link or QR code, post it to Google Classroom, or print a handout.

No more “let me just find the right part”

Scrubbing through a video in front of a class wastes time and attention. A clip starts and stops exactly where you set it, so you press play and teach. Clips from different videos play one after another in a lesson, with your own text between them.

Students and privacy

Students don’t need an account to watch a lesson or clip. LessonCues doesn’t download or store any video; everything plays in YouTube’s official player. Analytics are off on pages with videos marked as made for kids.

Questions

Do students need to sign in?

No. Anyone with the link can watch a public or unlisted lesson or clip.

Can I use clips from different YouTube videos in one lesson?

Yes. A lesson can mix clips from any videos with text blocks, Google Slides and full videos, in any order.

Will it work if YouTube is blocked at my school?

No. Clips play in YouTube’s embedded player, so they need YouTube to be reachable on the school network.

Can I print something for students without devices?

Yes. Every lesson has a printable handout with a QR code and short link for each clip, your notes, and optional answer lines.
